Call for papers for students


The WFSF XXV World Conference invites MSc/Ph.D students to apply for in-person presentation for the event organised for students with topics that are relevant in Futures Studies. The event will take place on the 24th October, 2023, from 9-12, the day before the main event. It is hosted by the SKEMA Business School (Paris, France) at the Amfiteatrum that can accept up to 250 people. This event is free of charge for presenters and guests as well.

Prospective presenters are encouraged to submit contributions in the following topics (with the emphasis on geopolitics, AI and sustainability among others):

The futures of futures studies – pushing the boundaries of futures thinking
  • Lexicon on futures
  • Use of machines for futures studies
  • Futures of futures studies
  • Education for the future, Futures Literacy – so important as History in the schools, stakeholders (influence, impact, action), futures education and research policy
  • The 100th anniversary of WFSF
The futures of humanity – exploring the liminal spaces between sustainability, equity and planetary justice
  • Universal values, ethics (techno-economic paradigms)
  • Anticipatory regeneration
  • Artificial vs natural
The futures of becoming(s) – exploring the liminal spaces between consciousness and spirituality
  • Humanity, humanness, human being(s), becoming(s)
  • Spirituality, emotions and consciousness
  • AI, technology and augmented humanity
  • Identity and representation
The futures of agency – exploring the liminal spaces between action and responsibility
  • Measuring influence, impact, action
  • Narratives of (for) the future(s)
  • Education and research
  • Value, value creation and no metrics (beyond GDP and growth)
  • Leadership, stewardship
Review criteria

The XXV World Conference Scientific Committee for Students, chaired by Christophe Bisson, will review each abstract (double blind review) and provide a recommendation based on the following criteria:
Critical / Creative Contribution to the field
Importance / Prescience

The submission deadline for abstracts is 14 July, 2023.

Notifications will be sent by 15 August, 2023.

Notifications will be sent out by July 31th. We are accepting submissions in English and French.


Students accepted to present at the WFSF XXV World Conference Student event are invited to publish their extended abstract in the flagship magazine of WFSF, Human Futures. Some selected papers will be invited to publish in European Journal of Futures Research by Springer (included in SSCI among other).
