The Evolution of Foresight Methodology

This presentation will explore the state of the art and future directions in foresight methodology. As a relatively new discipline with a small academic base and highly reliant on practitioners, historically the emphasis on methodology development has been more on innovating on existing methods more than developing new ones. But this is changing. A review of this history and a survey of the contemporary scene reveals that not only are new variations and innovations on existing methods flourishing, the variety of tools in the methodology tool kit are expanding as well. The development of a Foresight Competency Model and the emergence of the WFSF Accreditation Council are important indicators suggesting that the field is growing and maturing and in excellent shape moving into the future.
