The relevance of the ability to obtain key information for management planning at the university was analyzed in depth. Such planning is particularly difficult in the National System of Science and Technology of Argentina. More recently, however, the prospective tools for exploring the future have begun to be worthwhile.

For this reason, this paper seeks to analyze the main challenges of knowledge productivity in the research groups of the University of La Matanza until 2030 from a management perspective. In order to do this, the methodology is prospective. It is based on the perspective of those involved in designing policy at the university concerned.

Therefore, it aims to contribute to the field of knowledge management by allowing specialists to identify specific difficulties that cut across all departments of the University. Considering these difficulties could be a great tool for planning the future in the whole University System.
