Gustavo Machado
Gustavo holds a BFA in Advertising from PUC in Brazil and an MFA in Design from Miami International University focused on climate change and the future of Greenland. Further studies include specialized courses in Strategic Foresight from the Institute for the Future, Singularity University, and Hyper Island. With over 30 years of experience in both Brazil and Canada, Gustavo has gained broad and deep knowledge in the fields of future studies, innovation, and entrepreneurship. In the corporate world, Gustavo created the Future Businesses Framework, a guide for companies to navigate future changes and based on this initiative, the Futures Lab: an experiential futures workshop integrating Strategic Foresight, Design Sprints, Lean Startup, and Agile methodologies. He also established the Metaverse Lab and the Museum of Preferable Futures platforms aimed at exploring and showcasing desirable future scenarios. As an educator, co-founded with Rosa Alegria the Brazilian branch of Teach the Future global movement. This effort aims to include future studies in educational programs across the country. He also teaches Futures Thinking at several MBA programs available nationwide. Gustavo has co-authored more than 20 books published in Brazil, the United States, and Europe. He has also been a speaker at various national and international events, further solidifying his standing in the field of future studies and related areas.
