Stefanie Ollenburg has been working in the futures field since she received her Master’s degree in Futures Studies from Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. There, she now teaches Participatory Methods in Futures Studies.
At present, Stefanie is a research associate and PhD candidate at the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK), Institute for Design Research. As part of the ScenAIR2050 project she is working on the development of alternative scenarios for a sustainable air transport system in 2050 and facilitates critical approaches to futures design.
Her main research interest ties in with her Master’s thesis, in which she developed the Futures Design Process Model, which combines design and futures studies and is based on Prof. W. Jonas’ model of Research through Design. Her interests has expanded to include building Futures Literacy and Critical Thinking. Her reseach focus are cognitive and artistic approaches as well as competences of future-oriented thinking relevant for transformative processes to actively “shape futures”.
