Zhengtao LI serves as the vice president of the Chinese Society of Education and the director of the Institute of Basic Education Reform and Development, a state-funded key research base for humanities and social sciences at East China Normal University (ECNU). He is also a professor and PhD supervisor in the Department of Education and director of the Academy of “Life·Practice” Pedagogy at ECNU. His main research areas are educational philosophy, educational anthropology, and schooling reform and development.

He has published more than ten academic books, including “Performance: A New Perspective on Interpreting Educational Activities” and “Interactive Generation: The Transformative Power of Educational Theory and Practice”. He has also written papers widely on topics such as “Educational Dimension’ and Educational Basis of the Social Development in China”. Moreover, he has led several National Major Projects, such as “Research on the Theory of Socialist Education System with Chinese Characteristics”.
